I had planned on deleting my tumblr…
but I’ll leave it up since that was requested.
I am changing my e-mail and password though so I can never log on again.
If you want to keep in touch, I post over at iswintercoming.com under winteriscomingbitch and on ONTD as comalies13.
Also, one final shout-out to Lindaaa:

OH, LINDAAA MAD.
FROM HER ‘WEBSITE’:
First Rant of the Season?Having just finished listening to the interview with Nonso Anozie who is playing Xaro Xhoan Daxos in the second season of Game of Thrones, I feel as if all my worst fears for the season have been at least halfway confirmed. Of course, one shouldn’t go entirely by what an actor says, we’ve had some odd reports in the past that way, but it really sounds as if HBO has decided to change Daenerys’s storyline quite considerably.
Oh, and beware of spoilers.
I won’t even bother repeating my feelings about how miscast Nonso Anozie is for the slight and effeminate character of Xaro of the pale “Milk Men” of Qarth, what he says in the interview is bad enough. He says he is “the Prince of Qarth”. Uh-huh. So, their ruler or something? Sigh. He says he has read the first book, but it sounds as if he didn’t read the whole of the second book because the show is doing things so differently anyway. Lovely. He calls the book storyline in Qarth boring and mundane and goes on about how the show adds more layers and a real game of thrones. Oh, so now the book is being improved upon, is it?
Daenerys is my favourite character. I always say I am a fan of A Song of Ice and Fire because of the classic fantasy elements and how well they are done, not because it is not much like fantasy at all. Fantasy is what I read and what I love. Daenerys’s chapters have a sense of wonder and magic that only Bran’s chapters can rival and in A Clash of Kings, which is my least favourite book overall (which even so means it rates pretty darn high, but still), her storyline is by far my favourite and the most important event in the book for me is her visit to the House of the Undying. Boring and mundane? Please.
It feels very much as if HBO has caved in to what is typical for a TV series. They just couldn’t let Dany have as few chapters as she has in the book, they had to make her role bigger. The fact that characters have less chapters in some books, even disappear for some books, is as integral to the storytelling of A Song of Ice and Fire as the surprising deaths. No one is safe from death and no one is safe from being relegated to less important for a while. But apparently that was one part of the books HBO couldn’t see themselves being daring with. No, they had to give each character the same room every season.
I wonder what will happen to Theon in the third season? Will he be around? That would be a complete and utter travesty.
And even if they felt they had to give Dany more story this season, why not build on what was there? I am completely and utterly terrified of what they have made up, to be honest. A love story with Xaro? A little rebellion in Qarth? Dragons being unleashed a few seasons too early? Dany should be on a quest this season. A very fairy-tale like quest (albeit much darker) which ends in the amazing moment that is the House of the Undying.
Of course, looking at the first season, we probably won’t get much of that. Prophecies? Flashbacks? No, not important. Lets invent pointless stuff instead.
(Oh, and as a side note. What’s up with the Qartheen gowns not baring one breast? Non-sexual, culturally casual nudity wasn’t interesting to HBO?)
DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW TV WORKS. DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW THE REAL WORLD WORKS. MY GOD.
IT WOULD BE A TRAVESTY IF THEON WAS IN SEASON THREE? UMM….IT WOULD BE A TRAVESTY TO TAKE A MAJOR CHARACTER OUT FOR TWO SEASONS AND THEN REINTRODUCE HIM WITH ALMOST NO BACKSTORY.
ALSO: DANY’S QARTH STORYLINE IS BORING AND MUNDANE. EVERYTHING ABOUT DANY IS BORING.
OH LINDAAA, NEVER STOP. YOUR RAGE IS THE PERFECT WAY TO TOP OFF THE DAY, I DIDN’T THINK I WOULD SEE ANYTHING MORE BUTTHURT THAN FASSY STANS OVER HIS LACK OF A NOMINATION (WHICH I’M STILL LOL’ING AT).
the martells aren’t white stop dreamcasting white people ugh
‘i don’t think it’s racist that i want andrew garfield to play arianne.’
like i mean, grmm never came out and said they were POC. i don’t think so anyway because i have always pictured amanda seyfried as oberyn martell, idc, i’m not racist
ibh I’ve always thought Meryl Streep would make an amazing Prince Doran, so…
This post is Lindaaa (TM) approved.

The equivalent of fan-fiction. So the next time you think about writing fan-fiction, just imagine a poorly drawn hot pink dick spurting onto the Mona Lisa’s face. Won’t be so funny then, will it?
I don’t know how many of you are aware of this but Linda and Elio feature on Sky Atlantic’s Thronecast, a short featurette that follows each episode. They’re introduced as “Elio and Linda of Westeros.org,”just so everyone knows what website they run.
I find this interesting because they both get some really quite high-profile publicity from the distributors of the show, a show that she has trashed repeatedly and publicly. A show who’s fans (you know, Sky and HBO’s customer base) she takes an increasingly unhinged delight in trolling and insulting. If Linda really believes what she’s saying, if she truly believes this stuff, do you think she’d ever say stuff like this on Thronecast?
You know what Linda? Do it. Say this stuff on Thronecast, stand up for yourself and the canon material you so love. Own your words! Stand by them! Tell everyone how this show should never have a POC in the cast, ever. Tell everyone how totally not racist this is, tell everyone that book purism is far more important than hiring a POC actor (even if they did the best audition). Tell everyone how stupid you think Nina Gold and the rest of the casting crew are for hiring Oona Chaplin, Nonso Anozie and Lucian Msamati. Fight back against political correctness gone MAAAAAAAAAD. It’ll be worth it, think how many more people you’ll reach than you do on tumblr. Spread your message of
racismpurism! And while you’re at it, why don’t you use this platform to complain about the other things that irk you, the other changes? Opine on what a “travesty” Cersei is in the show. Tell them how you could do it better, tell them about ALL the things they’ve done wrong.
You could also take the opportunity to tell them how stupid a good portion of the fanbase is and don’t mince your words! Tell everyone what a bunch of “little girls” we are, make it known that we are “retarded” and “cunts.” Tell everyone about our “cunt-stained fingers” while you’re at it. Don’t pull your punches. Tell the world why we’re “pond scum” for having a different opinion on fanfic than GRRM. Tell them how we deserve to be insulted in the most sexist and ablist manner just for criticizing a site that allows posters to call for the rape and torture of female characters. Like I said, we’re a good portion of HBO/Sky’s customers but fuck it, they need to be told. This shit’s important.
I’m sure HBO/Sky would be thrilled to know what you really think of the show and its viewers. I’m sure they’d be falling over themselves to associate with you and give you and your site more free publicity if they knew.
Go on. Stick it to the man. Fight the good fight.
I find this interesting because they both…
I second this! Bravo.

The entitlement issues plaguing certain elements around here show themselves in the most amusing ways. First, they insist that only they can define what racism is. Now, they insist that only they can define what fan fiction is.
Now, its Wikipedia and we all know what that means, but I rather like the start of the entry for fan fiction:
“Fan fiction (alternatively referred to as fanfiction, fanfic, FF, or fic) is a broadly-defined term for fan labor regarding stories about characters or settings written by fans of the original work, rather than by the original creator.”
Then note the entry for fan labor:
“Fan labor is a term used to refer to the productive creative activities engaged in by fans, primarily those of various media properties or musical groups.[1][2] These activities can include creation of written works (fictional, fan fictional and review literature), visual or computer-assisted art, music, or applied arts and costuming.”
Character descriptions for a MUSH are definitely not stories. Backgrounds written for a character are not necessarily stories, though could be depending on how they are written. If you define the usual type of background for a game as a story, then you probably need to define a character writeup on Wikipedia as a story too.
I wouldn’t, but hey, I am sensible.
So, fan labor, not fan fiction.
But, ultimately, what matters is not whether something or not is fan fiction, what matters is whether the owner of the copyright in question allows it or not.
If an author says fine, knock yourself out. If an author has said nothing, ask. If an author has said no, don’t do it.
(If the author is dead and the work no longer under copyright, knock yourself out.)
Its common fucking courtesy. Someone created something you love, and you think its fine to shit all over their wishes? Not to mention their legally supported wishes. If you are a fan artist, do you like it when someone takes your art and draws dicks all over it and puts it up on their own website? I see plenty of fan artists whose notes for how their work can be used includes “no modifications allowed”.
GRRM has said yes to our MUSH, he has said yes to fan art, he has licensed a comic, he has licensed an RPG, he has licensed a show. He has said he is not fine with people writing fan fiction.
Oh, and twatcollective? Just because we don’t use book characters doesn’t mean we don’t stick to what’s canon in the setting. Which means no black nobles native-born to Westeros. I’ve already explained in plenty of detail why that is way too unlikely. But again, you don’t really see anything expect what you want to see.
Alright Linda, I’m going to say this once and I hope maybe it will sink in for you:
no1curr
None of the people you constantly berate on tumblr care about what you have to say except when it’s racist, sexist and just plain offensive because as the owner of the biggest ASOIAF website on the internet, your behavior is unprofessional and your attitude disgusting.
But when it comes to fanfiction and the so-called rules of fandom? We don’t give a shit.
And that’s what bothers you, isn’t it. For many years westeros.org was the only major online presence concerning ASOIAF. You and Elio have been lodged firmly up GRRM’s ass for so long that you were even thanked in ADWD. People in general respect your opinions regarding the series, lord knows why. You’ve been able to use your connections to George to abuse people on amazon and have websites you dislike taken down.
Suddenly the show comes along and there’s a whole new part of the fandom that doesn’t give a flying fuck what you think. Some take it even further and laugh at you and mock you constantly. They have their own place on tumblr and ONTD, they don’t need your site.
And it’s not just that we laugh at you. We do everything westeros.org frowns upon. We write and read fan-fiction without shame, ship anything and everything that moves, make fun of GRRM when he’s being an Absolute Fucker (which is most of the time) and don’t take the author’s word as gospel.
You might be able to complain to tumblr and get some of our posts removed like you did with your Second Life pr0n but in the end it doesn’t matter. We’ll just continue as if nothing ever happened because we’re having too much fun being shit-stains of the earth.
That must be so annoying.
Well, get the fuck over it. No one on tumblr is going anywhere. No one is going to take anything you say seriously. No one is going to stop writing fan-fiction. And as long as you go on insensible rants that would be offensive if they weren’t so ridiculous, we will continue to flaunt it publicly because your rage is just so hilarious.
Give me your tears, Lindaaa. Give me your sweet, sweet tears.

My own hyperbolic hippo creations. Words taken directly from Lindaaa’s tumblr, template and meme created by watermeloncholy. I hope she doesn’t get mad that I’ve used her artistic creation. :(

Since this is fan-art, it’s okay right?
And with R’hllor as my witness I did not make this. I’m pretty sure it came from the SomethingAwful forums.
