I just read through all 85 pages of this tumblr. I love when you post your mom’s comments re: GoT. I thought about asking my mom to watch GoT with me. Then she saw a commercial for a new MTV show with teenagers humping or something and was offended by the sexual content.
And then I decided that my mom might not enjoy GoT.
I feel like the actor who portrays Sam best sums it up when it comes to parents and the sex on GOT:

Okay, I really debated on whether or not to post this because I think Hitler comparisons are completely inappropriate and tasteless. I do not think that Linda is comparable to Hitler in any way. There are many ignorant, ass-licking and stupid people in the world but that doesn’t mean it’s okay to even jokingly compare them to one of the worst people to exist ever.

Wow, I read through all the comments and what a clusterfuck. Elio and Linda’s responses are pretty pathetic. Um, telling people not to be a shitty human being is opening up a big can of worms? I’m sorry but I really don’t care about tolerating opinions when those opinions are ignorant, offensive and harmful.

I met Jack Gleeson last night.
I did the annoying thing and geeked out over GoT for a bit, he was a gent and put up with me. Then he accidentally told me a huge spoiler from SoS (yes I’m one of those people who only caught on after the TV show and have just finished the Frey wedding chapter in SoS - can’t wait to see that on TV!)
ANYWAY! I told him about the “Hug a Joff” campaign I read about here and he LOL’d, and I LOL’d and it was awesome. What a gent.
I was well annoyed but then my friends pointed out that if I’m gonna get a spoiler about the books from someone, who better then an actual cast member…

Jesus Christ. The physical characteristics of the Lyseni people is such a non-issue when it comes to plot that I am absolutely mind-blown by her objection. I got my grades back for summer quarter and this was my last chance to raise my GPA to grad school requirements. And I did it. I’m going to fucking cry tears of joy.
This also means I’ll be spending my month off applying to grad school, which is a rather terrifying prospect. That is when I’m not getting read to study abroad this fall. So much for summer vacation.
Anyway, I’ll be busy with that and catching up on my summer reading, so I probably won’t be on Tumblr much. Sorry Tumblr but laying out in the sun reading Percy Jackson is just so much more enjoyable.

I fucking hate that “Oh come back to me when you’ve had an NYT bestseller!” bullshit.
QUANTITY DOES NOT EQUAL QUALITY. I don’t see this argument being used in favor to support the literary merits of Twilight.
I’m tired of seeing GRRM’s fans use ADWD’s place on the NYT list as a defense of the book when faced with criticism (I’m looking at you Linda!). ADWD is a mediocre book, and it’s success is based on 3 hugely popular books and a 4th book that people hoped was a fluke. People have been waiting 6 years for ADWD and he’s picked up a huge amount of new readers with GoT, no wonder the book is doing well.
People have every right to be critical of George’s writing, especially now that he doesn’t even have a great plot to excuse such travesties as the Myrish swamp or the in-depth study of river turtles.
Deal with it.
