Not to mention the fact that Dany is utterly incapable of ruling. Oh, the city you just conquered is pleading for you to lift the ban on slavery because otherwise it would collapse the economy? Even the slaves themselves are begging you to lift the ban? Don't lift the ban. Oh hey let's leave a priest, a butcher and some other random guy behind to rule another city you've conquered. That will work out well. Banishing Ser Jorah despite him risking his life for yours and proving his loyalty on more than one occasion, just because she was butt hurt. Bet you regret that now, Dany. But don't worry, at least you still have your dragon... oh wait. They're flying around unchecked eating livestock and killing children.

Thank you for this summary, I’m only on CoK in my reread and was having a hard time remembering details past that.

And also, it’s just really fun to hate Dany. :D

What's the issue with Danny? I'm currently reading the books and haven't caught up to the show yet so I'm jst wondering?

Okay, *SPOILERS FOR BOOK 1*

First of all, I think she’s just a boring character and I hate reading about her because she has no personality and her story doesn’t interest me.

But it’s her sense of self-entitlement to the Iron Throne that really bothers me. She has absolutely no memory of the Seven Kingdoms and knows nothing about the cultures, the land or the people. Yet because she has dragons she somehow deserves it? Westeros has moved on, they don’t care about her ass. And now they’re in a massive bloody war. Oh yeah, bringing in some dragons and a huge army is really going to fix things. Except not, more people will die and it will be a mess. Then, let’s say she does win the throne. She can’t have children. So she would have no one to pass the throne onto, and upon her death there’s a good possibility of civil war. Again.

There is no good reason for her to be ruler of Westeros and she should get over herself tbh.

Quite a few people don’t like ASOIAF on amazon, and besides criticizing the books they also have a few things to say about people who enjoy the books.

  • “Men will probably like this book but I suggest women save their money.” Thanks for the suggestion but you can shove it up your ass tbh.
  • “Well people really this is your book…… only if your are into early teens have sex with thirty year olds and incest.” Because nothing else happens in 800 pages, amirite?
  • “If you like reading about women being raped, then this is the book for you.” Cool story bro.
  • “It honestly scares me that so many people love this book! Anybody that can relate to this book is a sick sick monster!” Rude. Emo Jon gets me in a way nobody else does.
  • “I guess it may be different if you are a man; I have yet to meet a woman who actually liked this book. My male friends speak enthusiastically about this series. Ugh. Even thinking about it now is making me queasy.” I don’t know how many male followers I have or how many guys there are on ontd_asoiaf but I can confidently say they are far outnumbered by women.
  • “I would recommend this book only to masochists.” I love all my fellow masochists. <3
  • “Suffice it to say that reading “A Song of Fire and Ice” is like staring at roadkill on the highway. If it makes you sick, you will hate this story. If you look at roadkill and snicker, then this series is perfect for you.” I LOVE ROADKILL TBH.
  • “I really question anyone who praises this book, if they have read in the fantasy genre or much at all. If you have no insight or taste whatsoever you might think it passable or goodness forbid even good. I pity you.” I love the taste of condescension in the morning.
  • “It’s almost too embarrassing to admit that I’ve read this ridiculous trash, it was at times juvenile fun but mostly just an overlong boring slog through an endless parade of heraldry and sigils. George RR Martin is just one of those fantasy authors who is better suited to writing for the want ads. If you disagree with this review you only prove my point.” We are proving his point…whatever it is.
  • “The Rape, Murder and Mayhem is also unending and tiresome. Yes it may be realistic—but so what! Films of hemmeroid surgery are realistic too, I don’t think I want to watch one.” That’s too bad they feel that way, they are missing out on some great films.

I love when people really hate ASOIAF, usually because of how depressing/vulgar/boring/nihilistic/devoid of any redeeming values. Butthurt is so delicious.
